In between two caravans, Hamed Ela, Danakil Depression. An estimated 1,000,000 dromedaries make the journey between the Lake Assal salt flats and Mekele carrying mined salt tablets. Each tablet (12-20kg) is worth 1.5 Birr when it is mined, and fetches 7-8 Birr (60cents) in Mekele.
